UNIVERSAL CITY, Los Angeles County — Universal Studios Hollywood opened its new outdoor high-speed roller coaster, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, on September 16, 2026, the company confirmed.
NBCUniversal’s opening announcement describes the attraction as the theme park’s first outdoor high-speed roller coaster and the fastest coaster in the Universal Destinations & Experiences portfolio. The company’s official park site advertises four launches, three inversions and rotating ride vehicles.
Why this is a local development story
The attraction adds a significant new destination within the studio-and-theme-park complex in Universal City. Changes to visitor attendance and traffic may matter to surrounding neighborhoods, although the opening announcement alone does not establish a measured increase in congestion, employment or tax receipts.
Visitor safety and access
Guests should review the park’s current safety, height and accessibility rules for the specific ride. A successful opening does not mean the attraction will operate continuously through maintenance, wind or other temporary disruptions. Park admission and attraction conditions vary by date.
For public transportation, the Metro B Line stops at the nearby Universal City/Studio City station, with a pedestrian connection and shuttle access toward the theme park.
